A GIS is an information system that works across national borders, facilitates communication between headquarters and subsidiaries in other countries, and incorporates all the technologies and applications found in a typical information system to store, manipulate, and transmit data across cultural and georaphic locations. Some challenges to the success of GIS is lack of standardization, cultural differences, diverse regulatory practices, poor telecommunication infrastructures, and lack of skilled analysts and programmers. A more subtle obstacle to GIS development is the unwillingness to delegate control of information systems to host countries.

M-commerce is using handheld devices, such as smart phones or PDAs, to conduct business transactions. Some popular applications of m-commerce are wireless wide-area networks and 3G networks and short-range wireless communication technologies, such as Wi-Fi, WiMAX, Bluetooth, and RFID. There are a wide variety of m-commerce applications that available for cell phones such as games, entertainment, news, and travel. Many companies provide a smartphone for their employees to conduct everyday business transactions. They may need to access email, process transactions online using pay pal or other online payment systems. It is important to have wireless communication technologies in order to conduct these every day business transactions via m-commerce.

Discuss biometric security measures with examples. What are the advantage and disadvantages of these security measures?

The biometric security measures use a physiological element to enhance security measures. These elements are unique to a person and can't be stolen, lost, copied, or passed on to others. For example, we have a biometric hand reader at the company that I work for that recognizes an employees punch in or out by their handprint. An advantage of these biometric security measures is that it's based on an individual's uniqueness like fingerprints which prevents impersonation. The disadvantages are high costs, users' being reluntant to using it, and complex installation.
